Canada’s top university track and field athletes gathered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for the U SPORTS Track and Field Championships, the annual national indoor championship organized by U SPORTS.

Competing at his second-ever U SPORTS Championship, Golden Star Thomas Becker represented the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the men’s high jump and delivered one of the strongest performances of his season.

Becker opened the competition at 1.95 metres, clearing the height comfortably on his first attempt. After passing the next height, he found a strong rhythm, producing five consecutive clean, first-attempt clearances from 2.03m through 2.15m. The 2.15m clearance marked a new season’s best, putting him firmly in medal contention in a highly competitive field.
Although Becker was just shy of clearing 2.18m, his consistent series throughout the competition secured second place and the silver medal at the national championships.
The result marks an impressive showing on the national stage and highlights Becker’s continued progress among Canada’s top university high jumpers.
