There is no single pathway to team selection. Qualification depends on the athlete’s age group, event, performance level, and the specific team they are seeking to represent.Provincial Teams: Athletes generally need to be registered with their provincial governing body (Athletics Ontario Competitive Registration), compete at sanctioned meets, and meet the required performance standards or selection criteria. Strong performances at provincial championships and designated qualification meets can also put athletes in consideration for provincial teams and development programs.National Teams: Athletes typically need to meet Athletics Canada’s published performance standards within the required qualification period and compete at designated national-level competitions. Selection may be based on qualifying standards, championship results, national rankings, and other criteria outlined for the specific team. Our coaches can help athletes understand the pathway for their event and age group, identify the standards they are working toward, and plan their training and competition schedule accordingly.
