SUNDAY, APRIL 05, 2026

Eliezer Adjibi opened his 2026 outdoor season in emphatic fashion, achieving the 2026 Commonwealth Games qualifying standard in both the 100m and 200m at the Battle on the Bayou, hosted by Louisiana State University at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on April 3–4.
Competing as part of Athletics Canada’s Olympic Development group, Adjibi wasted no time making a statement. On Friday, he delivered the fastest season opener of his career in the 200 metres, clocking 20.64 seconds to secure the Commonwealth standard.
He returned to the track on Saturday under wet, rainy conditions, where he powered to victory in the Olympic Development 100 metres, running 10.23 seconds (+1.0 wind) — again meeting the qualifying mark.
Adjibi also contributed to the 4x100m relay, running a standout second leg that propelled his team into the lead. The squad ultimately finished second in 39.09 seconds, with Adjibi’s leg proving pivotal in the overall performance.
With both sprint standards secured in early April, Adjibi’s opening weekend signals exceptional form heading into the upcoming season. The 2026 Commonwealth Games, set to take place from July 23 to August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland, now firmly come into focus.
