Adjibi Named to Team Canada for
2026 World Athletics Relays
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 08, 2026

Golden Star Eliezer Adjibi has been selected to represent Athletics Canada at the World Athletics Relays, set to take place May 2–3 in Gaborone, Botswana.
The championships will mark Adjibi’s second appearance at the World Relays following a breakthrough performance at the 2025 World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China. There, Adjibi helped Canada capture the inaugural Mixed 4x100m Relay world title alongside fellow national team members Marie-Éloïse Leclair, Duan Asemota, and Sadé McCreath.
This will also serve as Adjibi’s first national team assignment of the 2026 season, continuing what has quickly become a strong international relay résumé for the Canadian sprinter.
Adjibi is currently slated in both the men’s 4x100m relay and the mixed 4x100m relay as Canada looks to secure qualification for future global championships.
The Gaborone edition of the World Relays carries major implications for the international calendar. Across all six relay events, the top 12 teams will automatically qualify for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
The mixed relay events also serve as qualifiers for the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship, where only the top six teams will advance to the high-profile September competition in Budapest, Hungary. The event is expected to feature Olympic champions, world champions, and Diamond League winners in a global championship showcase.
With Canada entering as defending mixed 4x100m world champions, all eyes will once again be on Adjibi and the Canadian relay squad as they return to the international stage.
